We provide specialist legal advice on intellectual property matters, with a particular focus on Plant Breeders’ Rights and agricultural IP. Our work includes structuring and drafting licensing, testing, nursery, grower and marketing agreements, advising on royalty arrangements, and supporting the commercial exploitation of protected plant varieties in line with South African law and international principles.
We work closely with entrepreneurs and growing businesses at all stages of their development. This includes assistance with business structuring, commercial agreements, shareholder arrangements, and legal support as businesses scale, raise capital, or enter new markets.

Pieter Buckle
Pieter Buckle is a South Africa‑qualified attorney with a strong commercial‑law background, gained through senior in‑house legal roles within large operating groups and over a decade in independent legal practice.
After being admitted as an attorney in 2008, Pieter worked as a Group Legal Adviser to major commercial businesses, advising boards and management on commercial contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, business development initiatives, and company secretarial matters. His experience spans sectors including hotels and leisure, as well as the agricultural and international fruit export industry.
Pieter has particular expertise in Plant Breeders’ Rights and agricultural intellectual property, having advised on the management, licensing, and commercialization of protected plant varieties, as well as related commercial and cross‑border agreements.
Since establishing his own practice in 2014, Pieter has advised commercial clients, entrepreneurs, and rights holders on commercial and corporate law, company secretarial support, and IP‑driven business structures, with a practical and commercially informed approach.
